Alliance Française de Banjul in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union in The Gambia organised the European Film Festival since May 2022.
The European Film Festival is a film festival organised each year by the European Union which provides a series of films to honour European culture, art and societies.

Synopsis : Sicily, 1965. Lia grew up in a rural village. She is beautiful, stubborn and knows what she wants. Lorenzo, the son of a local boss, tries to seduce her. When she rejects him in a rage, he decides to take her by force. Instead of agreeing to a forced marriage, Lia takes him to court. This act shattered the social customs of the time and paved the way for the fight for women’s rights.
