Along with his brothers, Musa Jaiteh is one of the last Gambian artists to master the art of dyeing and batik. To preserve this art and share his heritage, he regularly organizes workshops open to the public – and this one is for you! 

 

Come join us at Alliance Française for this beautiful event where you will meet Musa Jaiteh, professional of batik and tie-dye. Together, let’s gain knowledge and dive into gambian culture !

 

For this workshop, the artist will only work using natural materials to make the tints. You have the choice between blue, orange and purple. So, pick your fighter : 

 

INDIGO for blue

Workshop : 9th February – 4 pm to 6 pm

Unfolding : 10th February – 11 am to 12 am

 

COLA NUTS for orange

Workshop : 16th February – 4 pm to 6 pm

Unfolding : 17th February – 11 am to 12 am

 

MALIMALI for purple

Workshop : 23th February – 4 pm to 6 pm

Unfolding : 24th February – 11 am to 12 am

 

Bonus ! We also have a unique opportunity for you ! Musa Jaiteh is currently working with Myette Fauchère, an artist in residency, here at Alliance. The two artists will exceptionally share the details of their project with you. It is a one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary creation mixing photography and dyeing.
