[EXHIBITION] Crossed portraits of the Francophonie in The Gambia

Exhibition of Crossed portraits of the Francophonie in The Gambia by Amandine Puntous  !

From June 15th to July 15th 2023, French cartoonist Amandine Puntous did an artistic residency at Alliance Française de Banjul.

During her month in Gambia, she carried out a three-part project:

• creating the exhibition Crossed portraits of the Francophonie in The Gambia of painted portraits of French speakers living in Gambia. Amandine met twelve French speakers and conducted an interview in French with each of them. These interviews were all recorded to create an audio montage that better reflected the French-speaking dimension of the project;
• producing a comic strip diary of his stay in Gambia;
• running four drawing workshops for Gambian artists and cartoonists.

Following Amandine Puntous’s residency in Gambia, Alliance Française invites you to rediscover the exhibition of portraits of French speakers. In total, twelve portraits of various personalities are on display in the Alliance gallery. This exhibition is an opportunity to discover the various French-speaking faces of The Gambia.

In addition to the portraits on display in the hall, the audio montage of the twelve interviews will be broadcasted in the hall, in order to immerse visitors in this project centred around the French-speaking people of Gambia.
