The Alliance Française de Banjul was pleased to host Gambian visual artist John S. Mendy for a one-month artistic residency, from March 1st to 31st, 2025. This event marks an important step in his journey, offering the public the opportunity to discover his ongoing work.
John S. Mendy is a self-taught artist known for his hyper-realistic pencil portraits. His style, precise and expressive, captures the essence of his subjects with great finesse. Mendy also explores other forms of art, including sculpture, painting, and pen art.
During his residency, the artist created a new series of portraits that reflect his personal approach and artistic evolution. These works will be exhibited in June 2025, offering an immersive experience into his creative world. This residency is part of the Alliance Française de Banjul’s commitment to supporting the local artistic scene.
