Alliance Française de Banjul welcomes Senegalese creator Aminata Khoussa as part of a cross-residency with École des Gobelins, alongside Batch Samba Njie and Françoise Le Brusque.

Telling Africa’s story through animation

Aminata Khoussa uses 2D animation and stop motion to bring African cultures to life. This Senegalese content creator and voice-over artist develops educational and artistic videos that draw from the continent’s rich knowledge systems and imagination.

An entrepreneur, she founded Voxdream and Animafrica, two ventures that embody her vision: transmitting culture differently, with creativity and authenticity. Her work explores how animation can become a tool for showcasing African heritage.

An international creative encounter

This cross-residency brings together three worlds: Batch Samba Njie’s Gambian expertise, Aminata Khoussa’s Senegalese sensibility, and Françoise Le Brusque’s French approach. Together, they will work on an animation project that blends their techniques and cultural perspectives.

École des Gobelins, Paris’s leading institution in image and animation since 1975, supports this collaboration aimed at fostering knowledge exchange between participants.

An unprecedented collaborative project

The trio will create a short animation that reflects this encounter between cultures. Beyond the final work, it’s the process that matters: how can animation carry African voices and build bridges between continents?

For Aminata Khoussa, this residency fits into her mission of cultural transmission. She will contribute her stop motion expertise and knowledge of West African cultures while discovering her collaborators’ approaches.

This promising experience illustrates animation’s potential as a universal language, capable of carrying cultural specificities while creating dialogue between creators worldwide.
