Every year on November 24th, the Alliance Française de Banjul celebrates the International French Teacher’s Day. As a language centre, and the leading centre for learning French in The Gambia, the Alliance Française de Banjul is very attached to the work of French teachers. This day is therefore of great importance to us, and is an opportunity to pay tribute both to Alliance teachers and to the other Gambian French teachers with whom we work on a regular basis.

On November 24th 2022, the International French Teacher’s Day was organised at the Alliance Française de Banjul by Mr Andrew Sambou, French coordinator at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. Mr Sambou began by giving a talk on the importance of the role of French teachers in promoting and disseminating the Francophonie. Next, the SBEC and Glory Baptist schools each gave a theatrical performance in our open-air theatre. Finally, Mr Hydara, Director of Courses at the Alliance Française de Banjul, presented the IF Profs platform to over fifty French teachers working in Gambia.
