The World Music Day takes place all over the world on the 21st June. The World Music Day aims to promote music and encourages amateur musicians to perform voluntarily in the streets and public spaces. Through the organisation of numerous free concerts, both amateur and professional, it gives a wide audience access to music of all kinds and origins. It is currently celebrated in about 100 countries.

In 2022 and 2023, Alliance Française de Banjul organized World Music Day in partnership with Musigam, the Musicians Union of the Gambia.

For the Music Day, the Alliance is offering various activities for children and families during the day: painting, workshops, craftmarket, dance classes and more.

In the evening, concerts are held in our open-air theatre, featuring a range of Gambian groups and singers of all styles! Music Day is an important day for the Alliance, and every year we do our utmost to celebrate it in the best possible way!
