Opening of the exhibition “Behind The Burning Sun” on Thursday, February 27th at 5pm

The Alliance Française of Banjul is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition “Behind The Burning Sun” by photographer Eugénie Baccot, on Thursday, February 27th, 2025 from 5pm.

This event will allow you to discover in preview this photographic series inspired by Alex Haley’s novel “Roots” and developed during two artistic residencies in The Gambia. You will have the opportunity to meet the artist and discuss with her about her creative process and her experience in Gambian territory.

The opening will feature a presentation by the artist who will talk about her creation process and the inspirations that nourished this project.

This inauguration evening also marks the culmination of Eugénie Baccot’s current residency in Banjul. After conducting workshops with local photographers throughout February, this opening represents an important moment of sharing between the artist, the Gambian photographic community and the public.

Refreshments will be provided to guests.
