COMIC CONCERT “LES VIES DANSENT”: A CONCERT BLENDING MUSIC AND COMIC BOOKS AT THE AFB

‘Maryama and the Cultural Vultures’ present a unique adaptation of the BD Concert “Les Vies dansent,” originally created by the National Orchestra of Picardie.
The ensemble features Mariama Cham, Jaly Musa Suso on kora, Mustapha Cessay on percussion, Sidia Suso on balafon and backing vocals, and vocalists Modou Lamin, Oumy, Penda, Fatou, and Dija. 🪘
This new Gambian version combines the comic book projection with an original musical creation, blending traditional Gambian sounds and choir harmonies with the visual universe of authors Dominique Zay and Damien Cuvillier.
A Comic Concert is a live performance that combines music and comic book projection. The musicians play an original score synchronized with the images from the comic book. 🎶🎨
This project is funded by the French Embassy in Senegal and Gambia and implemented by the Alliance Française de Banjul and its partners. It is part of the FEF-R We Together for Women’s Empowerment project.
