“Unite For Bissau (Nô Kumpu Guiné)” is a powerful collective documentary that takes us to the heart of Guinea-Bissau, where a group of courageous women lead a daily struggle for justice and autonomy.
Inspired by the revolutionary legacy of Amílcar Cabral, a historical figure of independence, these women challenge the deeply rooted patriarchal structures in their society. The film documents their commitment on several fronts: the fight against harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation and forced marriage, as well as their quest for economic independence through innovative agroecology projects.
Through intimate testimonies and striking images of their daily lives, the documentary reveals how these activists are gradually transforming their community, despite resistance and socio-economic difficulties. Their struggle, both personal and collective, embodies a modern vision of female emancipation in West Africa.
“Unite For Bissau” is a vibrant tribute to the resilience and determination of these women who, far from the spotlight, are working to build a better future for generations to come.
