The association Chess in Gambia Schools and Communities is proud to present a special film screening of Steven Zaillian’s masterpiece, “Searching for Bobby Fischer” (1993). This special screening will be accompanied by a presentation and discussion led by representatives of the association, including Christina and Matthew Aziz. – Runtime: 1h49

Synopsis :

Basé sur une histoire vraie, le film suit le parcours extraordinaire de Josh Waitzkin, un jeune prodige des échecs. À travers son regard, nous découvrons les complexités du monde des échecs de compétition, les défis de l’excellence précoce et les questionnements universels sur la nature du talent et de la passion. Entre les enseignements de son mentor de Washington Square Park et ceux de son professeur classique, Josh devra trouver sa propre voie, nous offrant une réflexion profonde sur l’équilibre entre l’ambition et l’épanouissement personnel.

Following the screening, a discussion with members of Chess in Gambia Schools and Communities will provide an opportunity to explore the themes of the film and learn about the association’s work in promoting chess among young people.
