From November 23 to December 23, 2025, the Alliance Française de Banjul will welcome visual artist and photographer Lorraine Turci for her second residency at the Alliance. Lorraine first joined us for a photography residency in April–May 2024, and we are thrilled to have her return to continue her creative journey in Banjul.
During this residency, Lorraine will develop her new project, Le Regard du Crocodile, exploring the intersections of visual storytelling, human experience, and environmental awareness. Known for combining artistic sensitivity with a documentary approach, Lorraine brings a unique eye to her work, capturing moments that are both visually striking and socially resonant.
Over the years, Lorraine has collaborated with renowned NGOs, including Greenpeace and Amnesty International, and her projects have been exhibited internationally. Returning to The Gambia gives her the chance to immerse herself once again in the local environment and culture, drawing inspiration from the vibrant life and stories around her.
The Alliance Française de Banjul is proud to support Lorraine’s artistic journey for a second time and looks forward to seeing the creative work and perspectives she will bring to the community.
