From October 27 to November 20, 2025, the Alliance Française de Banjul will host Gambian director and producer Martha Manga for the Peanut Queens Residency, organized in collaboration with the Khoros Film Foundation.

A Voice for Authentic African Narratives

A passionate filmmaker since 2022, Martha Manga has directed several short films and a documentary in The Gambia. Guided by a vision to nurture African talent and amplify authentic voices, she continues to tell stories that move, inspire, and connect audiences across cultures.

The Peanut Queens Project

During her creative residency at the Maison des Artistes Musa Ngum, Martha will collaborate with fellow residents to develop and write the script for Peanut Queens, a short film co-produced by the Alliance Française de Banjul. Through this project, she contributes her unique cinematic voice to a collective reflection on womanhood, creativity, and empowerment in The Gambia.

Looking Ahead

The Alliance Française de Banjul is proud to support Martha’s work and artistic journey. Her participation in this residency embodies the spirit of collaboration and cultural dialogue that drives the Peanut Queens project. We can’t wait to see the outcome of this residency.
