« ASTÉRIX ET OBÉLIX : MISSION CLEOPATRA », by Alain Chabat

Synopsis:

“Astérix and Obélix: Mission Cleopatra” is a French adventure comedy film directed by Alain Chabat, released in 2002. The film is a loose adaptation of the comic book “Asterix and Cleopatra” by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.

The story takes place in 52 BC. Cleopatra, the Queen of Egypt, makes a bet with Julius Caesar: she promises to build a magnificent palace for him in just three months. To meet this challenge, she calls upon the architect Numérobis. However, he is aware that the task is immense and almost impossible to complete in the given time.

To help him, Numérobis decides to call upon his Gaulish friends, Astérix and Obélix, as well as their druid Panoramix, who possesses the famous magic potion. The two Gaulish heroes, accompanied by their faithful dog Dogmatix, travel to Egypt to help Numérobis keep his promise.

Once there, they must face numerous obstacles, including the schemes of the rival architect Amonbofis, who seeks to sabotage Numérobis’s project. Astérix and Obélix must also confront Roman soldiers and the dangers of the Egyptian desert.

“Astérix and Obélix: Mission Cleopatra” is a film full of humor and adventures, faithful to the spirit of the original comic books, with colorful characters and farcical situations.
