The Alliance Française de Banjul is also pleased to welcome Aissatou, a promising Senegalese producer, as part of the Khoros Cross-Cultural Residency program. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to the development of African cinema.
Trained at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, Senegal, Aissatou has developed solid expertise in audiovisual production since 2015. Holding a Master’s degree in Arts and Culture Management, specializing in Cinema and Audiovisual, she has mastered various aspects of production, from contract management to project coordination.
Her first professional production, “LE PRÉNOM” (The First Name), produced in 2023, is already experiencing remarkable success on the international scene. The film has been selected for the prestigious Vues d’Afrique festival 2024, and won second prize at the Gala Public Court International Festival as well as the Silver Kemyth at the RECICO festival 2024.
During her residency, Aissatou brings her producing skills to the ongoing documentary project, managing the administrative and logistical aspects essential to the shoot’s success. Her presence enriches the collaborative dimension of this residency, perfectly illustrating the spirit of cultural exchange promoted by the Khoros Cross-Cultural program.
This residency program, specifically designed for women filmmakers, illustrates the Alliance Française de Banjul’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and supporting female artistic creation.
This project is funded by the French Embassy in Senegal and Gambia and the French Institute of Paris as part of the audiovisual cooperation.
