Every year on November 24th, the Alliance Française de Banjul celebrates the International French Teacher’s Day. As a language centre, and the leading centre for learning French in The Gambia, the Alliance Française de Banjul is very attached to the work of French teachers. This day is therefore of great importance to us, and is an opportunity to pay tribute both to Alliance teachers and to the other Gambian French teachers with whom we work on a regular basis.
Every November 24th, the JIPF is organized at the French Alliance in Banjul with the Ministry of Basic Education and Mr. Andrew Sambou, the French Coordinator at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and AFTAM. Each year, a conference on the importance of French teachers’ roles is given around different themes, theatrical performances are offered by our partner schools (SBEC, Glory Baptist, French School, Senegalese High School…) and a training and exchange module is led by Mr. Hydara, the Director of Courses at the French Alliance in Banjul. We thank all our partners for their daily commitment to the French language in Gambia.
