Le regard du crocodile
Alliance Française de Banjul is pleased to present the upcoming exhibition of visual artist and photographer Lorraine Turci, developed during her artistic residency in The Gambia.
Her project, The Gaze of The Crocodile, explores the River Gambia as a living archive.
The river gave The Gambia its name and shaped its territory. It runs through the country, structures its history, and largely conditions access to trade, fishing, agriculture, and water, yet remains at the margins of the collective imagination.
The Gaze of the Crocodile is situated within this gap. At the boundary between documentary and the sensitive, the relationship between the territory and its inhabitants emerges through uses, landscapes, and gestures. A discreet yet structuring relationship, made of habit, distance, and dependence.

The recruitment campaign for English language assistants in France for the 2026-2027
school year is now open until February 8, 2026. This program is a collaboration between the Embassy of France in The Gambia and The Ministry of Higher Education Research Science and Technology of The Gambia.
Become a language assistant in France!
- This language assistant exchange program is open to candidates who meet the following
criteria: - Proficient in French (level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages must be certified by a French teacher’s attestation); - Gambian nationality with permanent residence in The Gambia;
- Native speakers of the English language;
- Between 20 and 35 years old by 31/12/2026;
- Regularly enrolled at the University of The Gambia or University of Education
(Gambia College) at the time of application; - Holding a diploma equivalent to the 2nd year of a Bachelor’s degree (L2) at the time
of application or arrival in France;

Assistants must register on the ADELE platform starting December 18th, 2025, on this page:

No applications will be accepted after February 8, 2026. Candidates are encouraged to complete their applications as soon as possible. A jury reviews applications as soon as they are validated. This allows the team to contact candidates for interviews and to check if additional documents are needed to complete their applications. platform.
