Patrick Singh, a renowned French visual artist known for his ability to capture the essence of contemporary societies through various artistic mediums, is currently in residence at the Alliance Française de Banjul. His impressive international journey, marked by memorable installations such as “City Spirits” in Addis Ababa and “Le Voyage Souterrain” in Meknes, continues in The Gambia, where he shares his art through interactive workshops over two months.

Urban murals celebrating African women
The Alliance Française de Banjul welcomes artists K2B and Naja in February 2025 for an exceptional artistic residency, supported by the French Embassy in Senegal and The Gambia. This unique project will see the creation of 10 portraits of influential women in the streets of Serrekunda and Banjul, blending local and international talents in a celebration of female empowerment through urban art.

Behind The Burning Sun is a visual tale created during the photographer’s two residencies in The Gambia. To shape her vision, Eugénie Baccot drew inspiration from Alex Haley’s novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family. This major literary work is the starting point for a photographic exploration of memory in Gambia.
